The natural state of #motherhood is selflessness.🔅 . 1 little decision you make keeping your career, growth, health, mental wellness or preference first and the #momguilt kicks in!🙌🏻 . After 3.5 years of having Yaldurum depend on me 24/7 (except a few months in nursery), I had been waiting for when he would finally start #school. After which I kept whining about having to drive twice a day and spending more than 2 hours on road when I could be doing something more productive. . 🤷🏻‍♀️ Today, he finally started going by the big yellow bus.🚍 I was looking forward to this day so much, I would show him the yellow bus to instill excitement in him since he was 2! So I could be more productive/focused on whatever I do. But today when it finally happened - my mom guilt kicked it. Just like it did for all my FIRSTs as a mom.😣 Just because I was home and he was out. My first concert, first night out with girls, first movie.. but even the first workshop, first art class, first driving class, first blogging event. So when I look back, I notice I'm guilty of not just the fun I have once in a while to keep myself sane, but also guilty of doing anything for self growth, learning or progressing as an individual. All this despite putting my education and work experience aside for 4 big years. But today when I talked about it on my stories, so many of you messaged me to tell me that it's pretty common. It's like post-partum depression but in intervals. You know you have it, you know it's temporary, you know this too shall paas but you still FEEL IT.😕 ..because perhaps the natural state of motherhood is SELFLESSNESS. I wish our kids grow up to realise the difficult choices we ever made to be good mums alongside getting all the other things done to also become their role models. . . What do you feel guilty of? Sometimes all you need is a hearty #breakfast and your girl friends to be able to #unwind.🔅 I've been having a crazy busy week (compared to my usual) and that has been exhausting.. so this plan helped me slow down, to be myself, take a break off work, chores and #parenting (with kid in school) and to let #goodvibes and #goodfood heal me.💛 In all honesty I've never been a breakfast person, but now my new routine of having to wake up at 6am has totally changed the game. A breakfast plan is what suits me the most! Still not an egg loving person so this platter that also served beef steak, big garlic mushroom, grilled haloumi cheese, roasted tomatoes, sliced avocado, beans, butter toast with a side of any 1 beverage hot or cold seemed like something totally meant for me! I love beef and mushrooms and haloumi!🥩🍄🧀🥑 I chose fresh #watermelon juice on the side. And if you think it would have costed a lot, let me tell you that it's on @entertainer so going with friends and using vouchers meant paying just 50% i.e. Aed 35ish for all this!!!!💸 . @circlecafe had clearly one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Delicious, hearty and reaosnably priced. Plus the place had so much natural light falling in, so #green and had a very #refreshing decor. Sometimes I feel like I'm meant to live among the mountains and trees..Closer to nature. Where there's peace and tranquility.🤷🏻‍♀️ But I live in a city, made in a desert. And while that has its own perks, we as a family are still conscious of what we expose ourselves to and what's not pure around us.🙌🏻 . And even though I am not a fitness freak, I'm pretty much a wellness enthusiast - so I make sure to surround myself with what helps me feel well by bringing #nature to me. . Here are the little things I do to feel good on the inside: 🔅Get indoor #plants.🌱 🔅Sitting outside in the morning/evening #sun for a few minutes no matter how hot it is. (Avoid the harsh sunlight) because vitamin D! 🔅Opening up windows daily for some time. 🔅Reminding myself to drink more #water. (I drink out of bottles, not glasses for this reason) 🔅Stealing some days off when I just won't head out. I chill at home to regain #energy. (Weekends when I used to work) 🔅#Walking to distances under 15-20 mins instead of taking the car. 🔅Parks! I stretch or jog around as Yaldurum enjoys the playground there. 🔅Simple balanced diet: I cook more than just meat. Some days of the week its egg, veggies or sea food based meals. 🔅Early to bed, early to rise. (New to this but really helps) 🔅Makeup free days & food based masks for face. Either of homemade, organic or natural ingredients based products. (Why I'm huge on @stivesskin products) . . . These are the little #conscious #efforts I make to make myself feel good by bringing nature to me. Apple launched a 3 camera phone. Wow. Not. Coz Samsung launched it first. Hahaha.🏆 . Note10 plus btw has 4 cameras. #justSaying🙈 . . Once you hit a certain age, you become permanently unimpressed by a lot of things.🙈 . Jese ke these days its #numbers.💯 . Number of friends. Number of clothes and shoes. Number of followers on my blog. Number of events I do. Number of kids. (Hahaha okay this one is zaberdasti ka point for desi aunties who need to stop telling me hum ne 8 8 paalay tum ek mei thak gai)🏆 yeh lain fertility trophy. . But you get it right? Numbers often have the power to create an #illusion of #achievement while inside you may be feel a void. It confuses you.🤦🏻‍♀️ But the real #happiness (like I always say) lies in little things. . Lesser but nicer friends. Few comfortable clothes. (Purani Jeans as Ali Haider once said) Blog followers who respect and appreciate you.
