Building that's the #colors of my soul. 🎨 Shared a picture of this random residential building on my story 2 days ago and I've never received a question in my DMs as repeated as "wow. Where is this?" Funnily I found this extremely instagrammable building where you'd least expect it - Nazimabad.🙆🏻‍♀️ Not stereotyping areas but while I admired this building, I asked my mom to look around and tell me if she sees any color around other than browns and 'dull' greens. And she sadly didn't. I really wish Karachi would somehow turn this #colorful and #vibrant like its people over the next few years. But for the coming weekend I have a few colorful places in #Karachi to #explore including @tdfghar , @thegridclub and @starscluborg - any more than anyone would suggest?💁🏻‍♀️ . Talking of Karachi, I stay in an Army housing community here that's pretty much in the center of Karachi but always had to go 'pull ke uss paar' to find better restaurants, salons and cinema. But not.any.more!There's Nueplex Cinemas right NEXT to my community and I walk up to it, and so many great restaurants and amazing salons just minutes away from pull ke 'iss' par. 🤝 So so happy about that omagaad.💃🏻 #trafficAvoidanceFTW

•50 shapes of humans• --- After mom-shaming, presenting the second most common masla of a woman's life: Body -shaming.💃🏻 And while there are plenty of posts and articles on how fat-shaming can ruin a person's confidence, very few talk about how skinny-shaming is also a thing.💁🏻‍♀️ Funnily most people do it as a joke, like they jokingly call their sorting/managing habit their OCD. (Another topic - kisi aur din!)🤔 . So here's a simple guide on what not to say to skinny people: 🔆Kuch khaati nahi ho? (Han mera soong ke pait bhar jata hai) 🔆doesn't your family feed you? (Am I a cat?) 🔆Do you get your clothes from kids section? (Actually yes sometimes - don't jallus of my options) 🔆How will you give birth? How will you feed? (Been there, done that on behalf of even the women who don't think it's absolutely necessary to) 🔆Urr jaogi (slow-clapping for people in 2000s with jokes from 1900s) ...And the absolute non-sense: 🔆Hum se le lo? (Barter trading fat? Joke tha?) . I see women asking "how to lose weight in 3 hours" on social media getting more serious replies than women asking "how to gain weight?" - all they get is "you're so lucky - hum se lelo". 🙍‍♀️ I could go on and on about the struggle of a skinny person but let's get this straight: Humare skinny honay pe bhi we're asked to gain, observed in dawats like a skeleton in a science lab and publicly asked ridiculous questions we don't have answers to. So how about you we all live and let live with the body we're all blessed with by Al-musawwir (The Artist - Allah) because happiness comes in all shapes and sizes. 🔺️🔷️⚫◻ . . . . . Is it normal to be torn between two places such that you can't decide which one you're meant to fit in better?🤔 One that you belong to, one that belongs to you. 🌏 . The struggle of an #expat life, where you just constantly miss the place you're not at! And if by chance you have kids, the challenge of making them belong and adapt to both the two places is another story altogether. 👨‍👩‍👧 . Half way through my trip to #Karachi and I'm starting to miss #Dubai. But like #Deepika says in 'Yeh Jawani hai Diwani': Jitna bhi try kero life mein kuch na kuch toh chutega hi, toh jahan hain wahin ka maza lain?🔆🔆🔆 Do you think it's a #blessing to have two places to call home or #struggle to only half-fit in both? 💁🏻‍♀️ . . . . P.s. Also torn between lazying and being busy on this trip, I'm less active on my feeds and more on my stories for the time being.🐒

#Depression is like being colorblind and told to focus on how #colorful the world is. In simpler words, in depression we can't control our thoughts, our thoughts control us. . I'm no expert to explain depression in clinical terms, but I hold the ability to control how empathetic I am, how available I am for those in need, how well I listen without judging and how pleasant are the words I say to others. And so do you! So do we all!💁🏻‍♀️ . That being said, there's no reason behind depression and there's no certain cure to it. The sad demise of @anamtanoli.offical a supermodel in the making at #Pakistan is yet another reminder to us survivors of the difficult lives and harsh world to be more empathetic and remember life isn't always as fancy as it may appear. Especially in case of us instagrammers. ❌ . Further sickened by all the fatwas of dua, namaz and suicide-is-haraam being passed on her all over internet even after her death. Shows how deeply rooted the problem od mental illnesses is in a desi society. May we all do more to our lives than just #survive.🔆
